Levittown Shop-A-Rama, Rollerama, Luigi’s Pizzarama. Here in Levittown, we sure love our “Rama’s” and Beer-A-Rama is no exception. Located across from where the old Shop-A-Rama used to be on Levittown Parkway, Beer-A-Rama is a family owned and operated beer distributor and staple in Levittown for over 40 years. We stopped by to get to know them and to learn more about one of our favorite local businesses!

LC: Where did you grow up and tell us a little about yourself?

Beer-A-Rama has been owned and operated by the LaRosa family since 1968. Frank and his daughters, Brie & Vicki, all went to St. Mark’s Elementary School in Bristol and Bishop Egan and Conwell-Egan High School respectively. His wife, Sheryl, grew up in Philadelphia and went to Germantown High School. The LaRosa family has been living and working in the Bristol/Levittown area since 1918.

Frank has been working at Beer-A-Rama since he was 18 years old. He and his father, Vito, bought the business outright in 1972. Ever since Frank has been a staple in the store, working full time for 40 years and now can still be seen popping in and out on a daily basis. His wife, Sheryl who earned her degree from Penn State, has been taking care of the books and working part time over the years as well. Younger daughter Vicki began working at the business when she was 16 and stayed there through her college years at Penn State University. She is now living in Philadelphia, earned her Master’s Degree at St. Joseph’s University and is a business consultant working for a local consulting company in New Jersey. Brie, the elder daughter, went to Drexel University and came to work for the business full time after undergraduate school. She then went on to earn her Master’s Degree at Holy Family University while still working full time in the family business. Brie lives in Levittown and is now the full time manager in the store and can be seen behind the counter most of the time.

LC: Tell us about Beer-a-Rama.

Beer-A-Rama is a full service beer distributor. We carry over 500 different beers from crafts, to imports to domestics. All of our beer is sold by the case and we also carry kegs, soda, and water. We try to stock as many new and staple beers as possible but we can also order special requests from our wholesalers. We are involved in many community programs such as sponsoring little league teams in Levittown Pacific and Levittown Continental, and Pennsbury Cheerleading. We also donate items to local fundraisers such as the Bristol Boro Parade, Levittown Fire #1, and many beef & beers held in the area. Our family lives and works in this community, we know our customers by name and have built friendships and loyal relationships over the years.

LC: What do you like to do with your free time?

Frank is an avid golfer. When it gets warm and he is not at work you know he is on the golf course. Together Frank and Sheryl are enjoying getting to travel more and have been across most of the United States. The whole family is big Flyers and Phillies fans as well as the Eagles and Penn State football. We try to get to as many games as possible throughout the year. And often have family gatherings to cheer on our home teams.

LC: What are some of your favorite things about Levittown?

Levittown is such a great community. A lot of families have grown up in the area and continue to stay. That says a lot about our neighbors. Many have been here since Levittown originated and support their local businesses that have also been here for 40+ years. We live and work in such a great area with so many local attractions, restaurants, and community programs it’s hard to leave!
